The Non-Essential Artist Month is a campaign organised by Blue Ocean Fine Art Gallery as an all in good fun response to a local survey published in which 71% of respondents voted “Artist” as the least essential vocation amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. Non-Essential Artist Month hopes to open up conversations between artists and the public on the question of “What is the function of arts is in modern day society?”.
Besides joining in the online conversation, members of the public can view artworks at Blue Ocean Fine Art Gallery where 16 local and Singapore based artists will be showcasing artwork addressing sentiments of artists being non-essential, especially in light of the Covid-19 situation.
A part of the proceeds from sale of artworks and Non-Essential Artist Month merchandise will go towards Community Chest to uplift low-income families in these tough Covid-19 times.
