The long weekend is here! Amid Valentine’s (or Galentine’s!) Day celebrations and the start of the lunar new year, the upcoming break promises to be a busy one. Here’s five things to do this weekend to soak in the festivities:

1. Hello Spring Festival

Start your long weekend right with Hello Spring Festival! Presented by Have Halal Will Travel, this digital festival offers virtual booths of home bakers, live shows, lucky draws, and more.

Take a tour of the booths and explore the various brands on offer, including the Singapore Tourism Board, Klook, and Canon, and enjoy many exclusive discounts!

The festival also offers live shows sharing more about lunar new year customs, staying fit during this period, and how COVID-19 has impacted the way we celebrate festivals. Scratch your inner travel bug with their segment on a virtual trip to West Japan – it’s a great way to soak in the sights while you’re homebound!

Check out the full range of activities at Hello Spring Festival here.

2. Have a picnic at a park

Keeping things low-key for Valentine’s Day this year, or seeking respite from endless rounds of Chinese New Year visits? A quiet picnic may just be the thing you need to recharge.

Grab your significant other or close friends, your favourite grub, a bottle of bubbly (optional) and head down to your favourite park – whether it’s a tranquil afternoon amid the lush greenery of the Botanic Gardens, or an adventurous post-hike picnic at MacRitchie Reservoir, it’s the perfect way to unwind and catch up.

A feast for the eyes and your stomach alike – with good company. It doesn’t get any better than that!

3. Bukit Timah Truss Bridge Decorations

Our reunion dinners may be a little quieter this year but there’s still plenty of fun to be had! Lift your spirits with the newly decorated Bukit Timah Truss Bridge which features colourful lanterns and flowers made from upcycled materials by residents in the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC.

In a heart-warming display of festive community art, a total of 60 to 70 residents worked in smaller groups to embellish the bridge– just in time for the lunar new year.

Head down to the Bukit Timah Truss Bridge (located along the Rail Corridor) to catch a glimpse of their handiwork!

4. Moo Moo PARK

Missing Singapore Art Week? Put a creative twist on your CNY celebrations with the aptly named Moo Moo PARK, Singapore’s first drive-through exhibition. Presented by Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre in collaboration with eight local artists and The MeshMinds Foundation, the exhibition marries art and technology in its exploration of Sustainable Development Goals.

Inspired by the Year of the Ox, Moo Moo PARK challenges convention with the use of interactive and immersive technologies and electric vehicles to showcase original pieces. Digital drawings have been reimagined to mediums such as 3D installation art, selfie filters, and augmented reality murals – powered by Spark AR from Facebook.

5. Void Cafe

Looking for interior design inspiration? Take a breather from the festivities with Void Cafe! Run by local furniture studio etch&bolts, this visually stunning space is housed within their concept store near SOTA, and allows customers to shop for customised furniture while enjoying their daily cuppa.

Pore over their beautiful designs with a sip of their signature pours, which include their signature cold brews, lattes, teas and more.
