Can I sell or stack my SingapoRediscovers vouchers?
On a briefing on Monday, Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has said that vouchers cannot be stacked or combined with any other individual to purchase the same items to prevent fraud and resale of vouchers.
STB further explained that stacking is prohibited as they are encouraging Singaporeans to use the vouchers and support as many tourism businesses as possible. So instead of stacking and using the vouchers at one go, Singaporeans are forced to use their vouchers sporadically to ensure that the vouchers are not focused to only one business.
Vouchers are strictly for your own use only and actions will be taken against any resale of vouchers on third-party platforms and cases will be referred to the police.
The STB have also warned Singaporeans to take extra care in engaging with unsolicited text messages or web links that direct them to suspicious portals claiming to be SingapoRediscovers vouchers’ authorised booking partners. Remember, there are only five authorised booking partners.
How is the tourism industry reacting to the SingapoRediscovers vouchers?
As one of the industry that has been affected badly by COVID-19, it is certainly not a surprise to see the positive reactions from people in the industry. STB said the industry has “responded really well” to the vouchers since the initiative was announced in August. Since then, more than 200 merchants have signed up to partake in this initiative.
The SingapoRediscovers vouchers is the first national digital-only voucher scheme rolled out by the Government, involving hundreds of merchants, five booking partners and dozens of physical locations all over Singapore.
Booking partners gearing up to welcome Singaporeans
Since Singaporeans are unable to travel abroad this year, the SingapoRediscovers vouchers will allow Singaporeans to explore the hidden gems in our beautiful city. The five authorised partners have catered their packages to appeal to the local market to ensure that it remains attractive to Singaporeans.
For instance, according to trip.com data, Singaporeans who go for staycations enjoy staying in and opt for F&B and spa packages. Hence, attractive packages have been put together to entice local customers.
The booking partners are also hoping that the vouchers will give locals the chance to relearn all about Singapore through the guides that have been packaged, giving them a chance to view Singapore through the lens of a tourist.
