Fill Me In
Starting from 1 December 2020, Singaporeans will be able to redeem their $100 SingapoRediscovers vouchers online.
What is it?
As part of the government’s initiative to support local businesses, $100 SingapoRediscovers vouchers will be distributed to Singaporean aged 18 and above.
Households with family members under the age of 18 can enjoy a $10 discount per ticket for up to six child/youth tickets.
The vouchers are valid from 1 December 2020 to 30 June 2021. As explained by Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing, the duration compliments the school holiday and spaces out local demands.
How and where do I redeem the vouchers?
Redemption of the vouchers has been made accessible and easy for all Singaporeans. All you need is your SingPass account and you’re all set! Those who do not have an account are encouraged to create one while those who have forgotten their passwords are advised to reset them.
The People’s Association has also set up booths at 53 community centres islandwide to assist Singaporeans with SingPass setup and password reset to ensure that the redemption process remains smooth for everyone.
Here is a breakdown on how to redeem your vouchers:
Have your SingPass ready and ensure you have all required details.
Visit any of the authorised booking partners and browse through their attractions, which you can use for staycation, attraction tickets, and tours. Be mindful that only products marked with SingapoRediscovers vouchers icon are eligible for the redeem.
Should you find yourself stuck or unable to process the vouchers, you can head down to 69 physical locations across the country. Most of them are in community centres and selected malls.
SingPass details will be asked when you visit these physical locations so ensure that you have them ready to avoid delays.
After browsing and selecting your dates, add the items in your shopping cart.
At the check out, click on “Use SingapoRediscovers vouchers” which will automatically prompt you to log in with your SingPass account.
Once you are logged in, select the number of vouchers you want to redeem. Bear in mind that the vouchers cannot be combined with another person’s vouchers to purchase the same items.
Those with family members under the age of 18 can receive the $10 subsidies on child or youth tickets once they declare their details when prompted.
Once you receive your generated code, paste it on the check out page.
Complete the check out process and you are now on your way to enjoy your staycation/attractions!
Can I sell or stack my SingapoRediscovers vouchers?
On a briefing on Monday, Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has said that vouchers cannot be stacked or combined with any other individual to purchase the same items to prevent fraud and resale of vouchers.
STB further explained that stacking is prohibited as they are encouraging Singaporeans to use the vouchers and support as many tourism businesses as possible. So instead of stacking and using the vouchers at one go, Singaporeans are forced to use their vouchers sporadically to ensure that the vouchers are not focused to only one business.
Vouchers are strictly for your own use only and actions will be taken against any resale of vouchers on third-party platforms and cases will be referred to the police.
The STB have also warned Singaporeans to take extra care in engaging with unsolicited text messages or web links that direct them to suspicious portals claiming to be SingapoRediscovers vouchers’ authorised booking partners. Remember, there are only five authorised booking partners.
How is the tourism industry reacting to the SingapoRediscovers vouchers?
As one of the industry that has been affected badly by COVID-19, it is certainly not a surprise to see the positive reactions from people in the industry. STB said the industry has “responded really well” to the vouchers since the initiative was announced in August. Since then, more than 200 merchants have signed up to partake in this initiative.
The SingapoRediscovers vouchers is the first national digital-only voucher scheme rolled out by the Government, involving hundreds of merchants, five booking partners and dozens of physical locations all over Singapore.
Booking partners gearing up to welcome Singaporeans
Since Singaporeans are unable to travel abroad this year, the SingapoRediscovers vouchers will allow Singaporeans to explore the hidden gems in our beautiful city. The five authorised partners have catered their packages to appeal to the local market to ensure that it remains attractive to Singaporeans.
For instance, according to trip.com data, Singaporeans who go for staycations enjoy staying in and opt for F&B and spa packages. Hence, attractive packages have been put together to entice local customers.
The booking partners are also hoping that the vouchers will give locals the chance to relearn all about Singapore through the guides that have been packaged, giving them a chance to view Singapore through the lens of a tourist.
What are some exciting activities I can use my vouchers for?
