Taiwanese band F.I.R. will not be performing in the upcoming One Love Asia Festival Singapore 2022 on 23 October. Taking its spot is Golden Melody Award-winning singer-songwriter David Tao.

Organiser of the festival IMC Live Global said the band has withdrawn from the lineup “due to the deteriorating health of a group member’s loved one”.

IMC Live Global also apologised to F.I.R. fans for any disappointment caused because of this “unforeseen circumstance”.

The Taiwanese pop rock trio was ecstatic to have been part of the original lineup when the festival was initially announced in July. It took to its official Facebook page to express its excitement, posting that it was thrilled to visit its Singaporean fans after two years and to perform some of its new repertoire.

This time round, IMC Live Global posted on its Instagram page alongside a letter written by F.I.R.’s managing company. The letter expressed the band’s gratitude for the opportunity to perform at the festival but expressed its regret not being able to “commit to ample rehearsals required to deliver a good show”.

Taiwanese singer-songwriter David Tao, also known as the godfather of Mandarin R&B and a six-time winner of the Golden Melody Award, is taking over. Tao is widely regarded for his signature style of R&B and hard rock crossover.

He was recently spotted ‘warming up’ his Singaporean fans with an “unexpected live performance” at music venue Simply Live by Tin Box. The singer also visited Universal Studios Singapore at Resorts World Sentosa where he enjoyed being at the theme park with his family.

Tao joins renowned and award-winning artistes Stefanie Sun, Namewee, Show Lo, Tanya Chua, WeiBird, Kelly Chen, Yoga Lin, Oaeen and OSN at the festival.

The two-day outdoor Mandopop festival held at the scenic Bayfront Event Space is drawing closer and is expecting more than 10,000 patrons each day. Doors for the festival open at 4pm on both 22 and 23 Oct and each act is slated to play a 40-minute set.

In a previous interview with TheHomeGround Asia, a spokesperson from organisers IMC Live Global said the objective of their festival is to “offer an escape for people to come together as one” through a common love for music and life in general.

General admission tickets cost S$121 for one day and S$221 for a two-day pass, while premium admissions tickets, which allow goers to enjoy a differentiated entrance and access to more facilities, cost S$161 for one day and S$281 for a two-day pass.

Tickets for One Love Asia Festival Singapore 2022 are still available at All Access Asia and SISTIC.
