The Porsche Design x AOC AGON Gaming Monitor Collaboration for Competitive Esports

Fill Me In

What happens when you cross a marque, known for its signature curves, with a leader in the gaming monitor market? A marriage of form and function in a gaming monitor to be utilised not just for long gaming sessions but on a daily basis as well.

The PD27 is the first-ever collaboration between Porsche Design and AOC AGON. The 27-inch monitor not only accentuates sleek curves reminiscent of many of Porsche’s cars, the marque has also tapped into its motorsports DNA to create a gaming monitor that provides an experience similar to driving a race car.

The sports car aesthetic

From first looks, the monitor is accented by a silver-coloured stand that is shaped like the roll cage of a race car. Fans of Porsche will also notice key styling elements that stay true to Porsche Design’s design philosophy, such as the ability to project its logo onto the table in different colours, and a backlight on the monitor that will elevate a gaming environment.

More driving elements can be seen in its wireless (IR) keypad, which has been designed to look like a centre console, and will allow users to quickly access monitor settings or gaming presets. While the unit may not be able to produce Porsche’s mighty six-boxer engine roar, a similar resonance can be heard (and felt) with the 5W stereo speakers with DTS sound.

Matching sports car specifications

Its high-octane specifications were developed for competitive esports gamers who rely on excellent visuals and quick refresh rate to make decisions in milliseconds. Images are displayed in QHD resolution, and produces a 240Hz refresh rate. The PD27 is also certified with VESA’s DisplayHDR 400 for vivid, lifelike colours. Its tight curvature of 1000R will also surround and encapsulate the user, providing focus and an immersive experience similar to VR headsets.

“With its linear and purist design that blends form and function, the Porsche Design AOC AGON PD27 is a perfect embodiment of the brand’s DNA and overarching design philosophy,” said Roland Heiler, Chief Design Officer at Porsche Design.

“Combined with AOC AGON’s innovative and cutting-edge technologies, the new monitor is developed for gamers seeking optimal performance that doesn’t compromise on style.”

The Porsche Design AOC AGON PD27 will be available from mid-November 2020 in select Porsche Design stores, specialist retailers and online.
