Jabra has launched the Elite 85t, the newest edition of its true wireless earbuds series here in Singapore. The Elite 85t comes with their latest and most advanced Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) chip, which silences background noise effectively. 

On top of the new release, Jabra also announced a free firmware upgrade on their Elite 75t and Active 75t wireless earbuds, which will allow existing users to enjoy the new ANC technology as well.

ANC technology

The most prominent feature of the brand new Jabra Elite 85t is undoubtedly the newly-introduced ANC feature into their products. 

With Jabra’s dedicated ANC chip, the Elite 85t allows for a fully-customisable ANC experience. Users can adjust the ANC in five levels to determine the precise amount of background noise they would like blocked. Complementing the ANC upgrade is also an adjustable HearThrough function, where users can control how much background sound they would like to hear. Both the ANC and Hearthrough levels can be adjusted at will on the Jabra Sound+ app. 

With the introduction of adjustable ANC and Hearthrough, the Jabra Elite 85t ensures convenience and comfort for users as they go about their daily lives. With just their phones, users can turn up HearThrough to be aware of dangers when crossing a busy road, or turn up ANC when working in a public place. 

The Jabra Elite 85t is powered by a dedicated ANC chip, allowing for more processing power to be dedicated to noise cancellation and thus improving its effectiveness. 

Additionally, the Elite 85t utilises a 6-mic technology to enhance the noise cancellation experience. Two microphones on the outside (feedforward microphones) help to detect and cancel noise from outside the ear (e.g., voices, a moving train, rain). Concurrently, microphones on the inside (feedback microphone) detect and cancel noise from inside the ear (e.g., excess noise that has made it past the feedforward microphones, sound of chewing).

With these features in place, the brand new Jabra Elite 85t promises an unparalleled listening experience through its exceptional ANC technology.

Comfort

With ANC in place, the Elite 85t true wireless earbuds allow for enhanced comfort through its new oval ear gels and semi-open design. 

The shape of the Elite 85t is based on Jabra’s fit simulation model made from thousands of ear scans and a vast database of ears. This allowed Jabra to truly analyse and design their earbuds to promise comfort for all users. 

The new oval ear gels improve the seal on the ear by following its natural curves, allowing for the perfect fit. Meanwhile, the semi-open design of the earbuds allow for air to constantly flow through, preventing excessive pressure from building up inside the air canal. Both these features work together to allow users to enjoy their music and calls comfortably for extended periods of time.

Performance and battery life

The Jabra Elite 85t comes with 12mm speakers for a big sound and powerful bass while keeping its compact size. Additionally, the 6-microphone call technology and wind protection function ensures superior call quality wherever, whenever. The wireless earbuds also come with IPX4-rated durability and a 2-year warranty against dust and water damage. 

With one single charge, the Elite 85t earbuds have a runtime of up to 5.5 hours, and up to 25 hours in its compact charging case when the ANC function is on. Otherwise, the earbuds have a runtime of up to 7 hours, and up to 31 hours with the charging case.

The Jabra Elite 85t also supports wireless charging and is compatible with all Qi-certified chargers.

Pricing and availability

The Jabra Elite 85t will be available in Titanium Black in Singapore from 19 November 2020 onwards. It will be priced at S$348 and can be purchased at all authorised Jabra resellers. 

The earbuds will be available in Gold Beige, Grey and Copper Black (Amazon exclusive) in the first quarter of 2021.

Early birds will also be entitled to redeem a free $30 Capitaland voucher with the purchase of Elite 85t in Titanium Black. This promotion is valid only for the first 200 redemptions.

Firmware upgrade for Jabra Elite 75t and Active 75t

On top of launching the Jabra Elite 85t, Jabra has also announced a free firmware upgrade for all existing Jabra users who own the Elite 75t or Active 75t earbuds. With this upgrade, all existing Jabra 75t users will get to enjoy the ANC experience free-of-charge as long as they download the upgrade in the Jabra Sound+ App.
