Calling all Disney fans! If you’ve been having a dopey start to the year, things are picking up, and are starting to look pretty marvel-lous. No more flounder-ing around; after much fanfare, and plenty of patience on everyone’s part, Disney+ is finally, finally coming to Singapore!
Does the thought of that send a buzz through your body? Indeed, a whole new world awaits. Allow your emotions to be turned inside out, as we anticipate spending hours all tangled up in all that favourite childhood nostalgia. Switch on the television, tumble headfirst down the rabbit hole, and straight into wonderland – albeit on your very own makeshift magic carpet from IKEA.
Corny references aside, Disney+ will be in Singapore on 23rd February 2021. Here’s what you need to get ready:
What do I need to prepare?
Starhub has signed a deal to be the official distributor of Disney+ in Singapore. If you’re a customer of Starhub, the best thing is that you’ll be among the first few to get access! And if you’re not a customer yet, you still have a month and a half to get going. Existing and new customers can register their interest here to receive updates.
The subscription fee is super affordable, going from SGD11.98 per month, or SGD119.98 for the entire year.
What does Disney+ offer?
Disney+ will offer content from six brands: Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and Star. If Star sounds unfamiliar, how’s this for size: Star will air movies and TV series from Disney Television Studios, 20th Century Studios, and FX productions. These include well-loved titles such as Prison Break, and How I Met Your Mother, among others. And what do you know, Singapore is the first market in the entire world to launch all six brands on one platform!
Hold onto the edge of your seats, for Disney+ will boast more than 500 movies, and over 15,000 episodes of content! We’re all familiar with Netflix Originals; Disney+ Originals have also upped the ante with various offerings of their own, such as the live-action Lady and the Tramp, The Mandalorian (Baby Yoda! Need we say more?), The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Wandavision, and much more.
What else is there?
You’ll be able to download any series or movie, available for watching on-the-go, or at home. 100 titles are also available in 4K/UHD (Ultra High Definition)! 4 screens can watch concurrently at any one time; you can also have a ‘watch party’ with your friends and family using GroupWatch.
