Things To Do: 5 Exciting Things to Do on 19 & 20 December 2020

Are you guys counting down the days to Christmas like we are (just one more week!)? Or are you more excited for the start of Phase 3? Either way, we have activities that will definitely kick off a fun-filled weekend and festive season for you and your loved ones to enjoy!

1. Otah & Friends @ Gardens by the Bay

Take part in an otter-this-world experience this weekend at Singapore’s first otter-themed escapade – Otah & Friends!

Located at Gardens by the Bay, visitors can look forward to 45-minutes of fun as they are challenged to seek out Otah the otter before the cookies in his oven burn. Throughout the journey, feast your eyes on visually-stunning and brightly-coloured rooms and inhale the tantalising aroma of Otah’s baking cookies.

With Instagrammable photo ops at every turn, be sure to bring along a fully-charged phone or camera!

Book your tickets here.

2. Sanrio Characters Beach Light-up

Sanrio’s superstars are visiting Siloso Beach this festive season at Island Lights!

From now until 3 January 2021, head down to Fort Siloso to say hi and snap wefies with Hello Kitty, Pompompurin, My Melody, Little Twin Stars, and more. Featuring seven larger-than-life installations, reminisce your childhood with family or take a romantic stroll along the stunning light features this weekend.

Entrance to Island Lights with Sanrio is free, but reservations are required.

Reservations can be made here.

3. Back to Live Concert at Marina Bay Sands

Who would have thought that we would have the opportunity to attend a concert during a time of a pandemic and social distancing? But Back to Live is slated to be “the largest live music show since circuit breaker”.

The concert, to be held on 18 and 19 December, will feature local artistes Benjamin Kheng and Sezairi on Day 1, and Charlie Lim on Day 2. Other special guests include Narelle, rapper THELIONCITYBOY, Linying, KEYANA and Aisyah Aziz.

Tickets are limited to just 500 seats per night. Concertgoers will also be required to take an Antigen Rapid Test or Polymerase Chain Reaction test, and have the TraceTogether Token or app  in order to attend.

Get your tickets here.

4. The Orient Express at Gardens by the Bay

Did you know that Singapore is the first country outside France to host the Orient Express? The long-distance passenger train service created in 1883 currently has a pop-up at Gardens by the Bay that showcases the train’s rich heritage.

Take a deep dive into nearly 140 years of history, with its exhibitions on historical objects and documents. Memorabilia include posters, menus and dining cutlery, as well as original Louis Vuitton luggage.

To feel like a Parisian traveller from the 1800s, try out the escape room experience or dine at the 1925 replica car restaurant helmed by Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alleno.

Tickets are available here.

5. Shine a Light at Marina Bay skyline

Headed to the Marina Bay area for a romantic dinner soon? Take the opportunity to walk along the promenade to catch the Shine a Light show that will illuminate the Marina Bay skyline every night of December.

60 light beams arranged in a circle form the notches of a clock face, as it counts down to the New Year. The lights symbolise unity, positivity and resilience – an apt representation of the strength shown by many through this harrowing pandemic year.

Shine a Light lights up every 15 minutes from 8 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.
