The lights and cameras were in full action as the eagerly awaited OPPO Find N2 Flip made its debut in the region at the Waterfront Theatre, Esplanade.

Unveiled at an exclusive preview on 2 March for its Singapore and Malaysia release, the successor to the Chinese manufacturers’ Find N Flip will be available for pre-orders from 3 to 10 March and available for sale islandwide from 11 March.

And perhaps the second biggest question on everyone’s mind, the OPPO Find N2 Flip, which packs 8GB of RAM and 256GB ROM will be available in either Astral Black or Moonlit Purple, and will retail at S$1,299.

OPPO Find N2 Flip: A bigger outer screen and smaller crease

Through the lengthy list of new features and specs of the OPPO Find N2 Flip, the most noticeable and deliberately so is the 3.26 inch cover screen, making it the largest of any flip phone currently available.

The larger size is an upgrade on the once held critique for flip phones, improving its functionality instantly. From taking selfies to checking notifications, its vertical orientation becomes a phone within a phone where consumers can reply to messages, toggle settings, answer calls and more, while it sits snug in the palm of your hand.

Finally, the OPPO Find N2 Flip’s new generation Flexion Hinge, which is the least noticeable feature, is also the most important.

Certified to withstand over 400,000 folds and unfolds at the standard room temperature, the screen is guided into the gentlest folding angle possible, creating a water-drop shaped fold that results in a remarkably shallower and narrower crease that is smooth and imperceptible to touch for a fully flat-screen experience.

Combining these two salient features quite literally opens up the OPPO Find N2 Flip field of possibilities.

FlexForm Mode turns the OPPO Find N2 Flip into a tripod-steady, hands-free camera, holding its position mid-fold between a 45 and 110 angle for waist-level angles. Alternatively, hold the phone partly folded and sideways into a throwback to the camcorder for a steadier grip.

Weighing in at 191g light and spanning 7.45mm expanded or 16.02mm folded in thickness, the 4,300mAh battery offers a full day of use on a single charge and even a 50 per cent charge from empty in 23 minutes with the 44W SUPERVOOC, to truly explore the possibilities of the Find N2 Flip all day and even night.

The future is flip at OPPO

The excitement was palpable in the theatre as representatives from OPPO charted its future into the world of flip phones.

The word flip comes with many meanings varying with its context and use. In some cultures, to flip is to make a rude gesture or remark at someone. If you are a fan of Gary Vaynerchuck and the surrounding hustle culture, to flip is a way of life.

OPPO has taken the critiques of flip phones in its stride, flipped it into strengths and proves that flip phones could be the future of smartphones with the Find N2 Flip. But come 11 March, flip might take on a new meaning, from fans of OPPO to the masses. ‘Flip’ might become a new superlative, for the benchmark of smartphones.
