An art community on Reddit imagined how Singapore would look like in 48 years, and the result is pretty mind-blowing.
A utopian Singapore
Reddit contributor Alex Rommel shared with the “art featuring urban landscapes” community called ImaginaryCityscapes how he figures a utopian Singapore could potentially exist in the year 2048.
In his reimagined world, the scene is noticeably set in the area facing The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands and Marina Bay Financial Centre. Yachts and ships are sprawled across the Singapore River, bustling with activity amidst several floating islands.
The skyscrapers that stand erect in our nation’s city skyline today are still prominent, though one wonders if the same big names still occupy those buildings. (I spy with my little eye OUE and HSBC, what do you see?)
And while some users like u/brownriver12 were quick to notice the absence of the Apple Store that occupies the space in front of the shopping mall, others like u/b0rnforthis are content to call the beautifully scenic depiction “our very own Ibiza”.
How do you envision Singapore in the distant future?
